Management Team

Fady Mishriki

CEO & Founder

Fady is Chief Executive Officer of PowerbyProxi. After studying wireless power systems through his Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical & Electronic), he became the catalyst for the creation of PowerbyProxi and provided the initial drive for the commercialization of new wireless power technology that was being developed at The University of Auckland.

Fady continues to lead the charge to give PowerbyProxi’s customers ‘the power to unplug’, and spends his time between the United States (where PowerbyProxi has two offices in Austin and Silicon Valley) and the home of wireless power – Auckland, New Zealand (Power engineering center is located).

With experience in designing and delivering thousands of real-world customer applications of wireless power, Fady is also one of the world’s leading specialists in the deployment of wireless power systems in the most difficult and demanding environments. He has an intimate knowledge of wireless power architecture, applications and solutions.

Michael Eckert

VP Engineering & Operations

Michael is VP Engineering at PowerbyProxi and has over 18 years experience running complex engineering development efforts in multiple locations across the globe including the U.S, France and The Netherlands.  Michael has comprehensive experience in the development and integration of semiconductors, wireless systems and end products.   Michael previously led Motorola’s Silicon Technology development as Senior Director of Engineering where he was instrumental in the development and commercialization of Motorola’s mobile WiMAX and later its LTE chipset solutions.

Gary Wong

Chief Financial Officer

Gary brings over 19 years of finance experience to the Chief Financial Officer role at PowerbyProxi having worked with numerous companies worldwide including lastminute.com, Heathrow Airport (BAA plc), BBC and more recently at Fusion Electronics.  Gary became CFO at Fusion in 2010 and successfully steered the company into profitability and oversaw the sale to Garmin in 2014.

Andrew Connell

Director of Sales & Marketing

Andrew studied Engineering at the University of Auckland and started his career as an electrical engineer at PowerShield before joining Rakon and moving into a series of Sales and Business Development role over the course of 10 years.  During his time at Rakon, Andrew completed an MBA from the University of Chicago, and became the technical lead or account manager for many key accounts including Apple, Blackberry, Broadcom, Cisco, Google and Qualcomm. Andrew joined the PowerbyProxi team in 2015.

Mark Flickinger

Director of Customer Applications Engineering

Mark brings over 28 years of experience in the technology industry to his role as Director of Customer Applications Engineering. Prior to joining PowerbyProxi, he worked for Intel and Motorola as an Engineering Manager for LTE/3G wireless chipset certification. Mark’s experience also includes Hardware Design Engineer for wireless base stations; Field Applications Engineer for FPGAs and Sr. Technical Sale Manager for electronic components. Prior to this, Mark graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BSEE from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Geoff Chisholm

Intellectual Property Manager

Geoff has over 20 years experience in intellectual property including as in-house counsel to international companies such as Ericsson and Nortel Networks. Prior to PowerbyProxi he also worked as a patent attorney including as partner in the high tech team of a leading London firm of patent attorneys. Geoff has registered as a European, UK and NZ patent attorney, and holds a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Auckland.

Dr. Patrick Hu

Head of Research

Patrick is a highly experienced power electronics engineer and researcher with over 70 publications and 6 patents to his name. He has had almost 20 years experience in power electronics and power systems. He is the lead inventor and technology architect of the second generation inductive power transfer technology (dynamic detuning) that Powerbyproxi uses. Patrick holds a PhD (Auckland), Masters and Bachelor’s degree’s in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. His research interests include both fundamental research and practical application in a variety of areas including resonant converters (modeling and control of switch mode nonlinear circuits, high frequency power generation, magnetic coupling, power conditioning,) wireless power supplies coupled with wireless communication systems, electronic control of power systems and distributed power systems.

Kunal Bhargava

Program Director

Kunal has extensive experience in manufacturing process design and was involved in the initial commercial realization and application of Dr Hu’s work. Prior to joining PowerbyProxi, he worked at Fisher & Paykel Healthcare as a Product Development Engineer for almost 4 years. During this time he managed design projects and negotiated production contracts. Kunal holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Embedded Systems) from The University of Auckland.

Jimmy Yong

Engineering Development Director

Jimmy has over 18 years of experience in new product development, specialising in program management and system engineering. Jimmy has extensive expertise in leading high-performing multi-discipline engineering teams in New Zealand, Australia, Denmark, USA and India.

Jimmy holds a Bachelor of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (Hons) from The University of Auckland as well as certification in PMI PMP and Agile SCRUM Master.

Daniel Randall

Operations Manager

As Operations manager, Daniel oversees  Supply Chain, Test Engineering, Production Engineering, New Product Introduction and the manufacturing of all Finished Goods products that ship direct from PowerbyProxi.

Daniel has a strong background in Electronic Design, PCB layout and Production Operations environments and holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics) from MIT (New Zealand). Prior to joining PowerbyProxi, Daniel worked for Compac Sorting Equipment Ltd and spent time in various parts of NZ, Australia, Asia and the US assisting with the development of next generation Produce Grading technology.
